Just nu ser Pestskråpknopparna ut så här. Senare blir de vita och till sist kommer stora blad som blir upp till en meter i diameter. Med solens sista strålar nästan horisontellt bakifrån blir de väldigt vackra.
Namnet kommer ifrån att de kan lukta som varbölderna på en pestsmittad och sen medeltiden har växten använts för att framförallt bota sår.
Right now the butterbur looks like this. Later on they will turn white and finally they grow leaves that will be meter in diameter. With the sun's final rays almost horizontal from the back, they are quite beautiful.
The Swedish name hints at a connection with the plague that stems from the smell that is similar to the boils of someone with the disease. Since medieval times it has been used for medicinal purposes, mostly to heal wounds.
